‘Vela’ is a richly pigmented oil pastel drawing, an abstract piece inspired by the traditional fishing villages that dot the Costa Brava, the beautiful Catalan coast. Vela means sail in Spanish and Portuguese, but is also means to watch over something – memories of watching the sea, the fishermen go by.
